I am researching a Haynes/Waterman family, of African descent, that emigrated to the U.S., in two groups--the first in 1909, and the second in 1911. We're trying to connect our American relatives with the family line in Barbados. We don't know the parish of origin of the Haynes family.

It was William and Helen (Waterman) Haynes who first moved to New York City in 1909 with their eldest son Louis. In 1911, Helen's mother Catherine brought two grandsons with her, Thomas and Henry Haynes, to NYC.

Family history tells us that some of the Haynes people didn't want to be buried in the U.S., and that their remains were returned to Barbados for interment. We haven't been able to verify that.

We are interested in information about the Haynes and Waterman families in New York and in Barbados. Thanks!
