PENNANT - Jamaica

Postby Apennant » Fri Nov 29, 2013 7:27 pm

I am conducting research on my paternal lineage of the surname Pennant from Jamaica, specifically the family from Clarendon. My Grandfather's name was William Pennant (the name that I know may be actually be his middle name) but died when my father was around 3. I do not know of any of my Grandfather's relatives but my research has led me to continue to trace in Jamaica and search in Wales, UK. From what I have gathered, there was a "house slave" known as Edward Pennant. I am inclined to believe that this may be an ancestor of mine as the Pennant Surname was not taken by anyone outside of the Welsh plantation owners during that time. Any information that anyone is able to share regarding this surname will be graciously received as I have hit a brick wall in my research.

Thank you.

Hi there,
I have just started researching the Pennant family from Clarendon. I wonder if you had made good progress in the 4 years since this post? So far i've identified a father and daughter and wonder if you have further information:-

Peter Pennant
b. abt. 1850

Sarah Elizabeth Pennant of Lionel Town, Clarendon.
b. 1875
m. 1895 William Hezekiah Drummond at St Pauls ?
d. ?

I attach the document I have sourced.

Best wishes,
