I have scant information that my gg grandfather, John Miller (b. 1812 Dublin, Ireland) emigrated from Ireland to Cuba, then later on to New Orleans and finally to Fredericktown, Missouri. I come to this conclusion because of the US census of 1850 that lists him and his wife born in Ireland. One child born in Cuba (actually the census says Spain Cuba). The next child born in New Orleans, Louisiana and the last two in Missouri.

John was a stonemason by trade and one theory is that he was an indentured servant in Cuba as a way of paying for Frances Clinton (b. 1804 Dublin, Ireland) and himself to get to America. I have no proof of this.

I have checked ships logs arriving and departing Cuba for periods from 1820 to 1840 and have come up empty. Any ideas where I might have better luck finding this family?

David Miller
