ELLIOTT - St. Kitts, Antigua

Postby tracyclimber » Fri Mar 13, 2009 10:59 pm

I am looking for any information on Ebenezer Elliott who was a clergyman in St.Kitts and is buried in Nicholas Town churchyard.I believe he married 2 ladies, the first was Miss Tudor and the second, Miss Moore. He was born in 1807 and died in 1871.

His younger brother, (George) Edwin, who emigrated by 1852 to St.John’s, Antigua and was the chaplain to a bishop. Edwin was also a minister in Dominica and St.Kitts. He was born in 1819.

This is very interesting! I am researching his brother Edwin who married Mary Walwyn - where I don't know - and as you say was rector of St Johns Antigua for 36 years. He returned to the UK to Hemel Hempstead, where he lived with his daughter Fanny and died in 1901. I have him named in 2 censuses 1881 and 1891 as a widower.

There is lots about their famous father, the poet of the Corn Laws, Ebenezer Elliott ..
