Looking for any information on my grandfather's aunt, ESTHER HYLTON DOLPHY, who lived in Linstead, St. Catherine in the mid-1800s to late 1940s. She was married to ALEXANDER DOLPHY, who owned a business called Alexander Dolphy Ltd. (?). Their sons were Leonard, Audly and Douglas. Their daughters were named Ena, and Joyce.

Esther had a sister named Josephine Elizabeth Hylton Hudson who died in Buff Bay, Portland parish in 1908. Her other sisters were Estella (married to Pierre), Annie (married name Hunter), another sister (married name March ) and a brother (father of Bancroft Hylton).

Would appreciate any information about the DOLPHY or HYLTON families you may have.

Thank you,

I have this small piece from the Jamaica Gleaner that mentions an Altamont Dolphy. I don't know where you are located, but Porus is in the parish of Manchester, not far from Mandeville. P.R (Philip Ryder) Tivy is an ancestor of mine.

The following appeared in the Daily Gleaner August 14, 1919 pg. 12

"Owners of motorcars travelling between Kingston and Montego Bay are begged to be reminded that they can always obtain gasoline and motorcar oil at any of my branch businesses at Porus under the management of Mr. P.R. Tivy
Altamont Dolphy"
