Searching for a Cruickshank (maybe different spelling) family. A daughter of this family, Jessie Cruickshank, my gr-grandmother, married my gr-grandfather Angus McLeod in Grenada. The story goes that he was the Captain of a three masted ship from Halifax, Nova Scotia, that sailed in the West Indies working between the islands and Nova Scotia during the mid to late 1800's. Their eldest daughter, Ada (McLeod) Speed was born on the ship in 1874. Their youngest daughter, Jessie (McLeod) Slater, my grandmother, was born in Georgetown, Guyana in 1886 after the family moved there. She married Wilfrid Slater in Georgetown, later they lived in Trinidad and then Barbados where they both died.
Surnames in this family are: McLeod, Cruickshank, Crombie, Speed, McLean, Slater, Bell, Burns, Lyon and Clavier. Any information will be appreciated.
