My paternal grandmother and her family were resident in the Caribbean for at least two generations.

She was born on Antigua in 1902, and educated in St. Kitts. Family was apparently involved in sugar cane plantation management around the islands.

Family names are spelled variously as Turbe, Turbie, Thurbee, and Turbé

All migrated to the US by 1920 or so.

I have her birth certificate (obtained on a visit to Antigua last year).
