BAILEY - Jamaica, Manchester

Postby glyphics » Sat Aug 01, 2015 6:22 pm

My father, Philip Jonathan Bailey, was born in Grove Town, Manchester to George Bailey and Margaret Rhoden (later Reid). He had a younger brother named Spencer. Spencer migrated to the U.S. (New York City) in the mid to late 1920s and my father followed in 1930. My father was closely associated with the Seventh-day Adventist Conference while in Jamaica, teaching at their high school - now a university - in Mandeville and serving as a headmaster of a SDA school in Kingston.

Any information about him and his family would be appreciated.

Are you aware of any Bailey that married into Biggs or by blood? I have a 4th great grandfather named Jas Bailey Biggs...the Biggs are from Grove Town, Manchester. I am trying to figure out whether this Bailey name is a surname from his mother side or a middle name.

Thank you
