RUSSELL, Edward & Charlotte B. Johnson Bahamas to Key West

Postby TedJ » Wed Apr 29, 2009 7:39 pm

I am looking for descendants of Edward and Charlotte Russell who moved to Key West, Monroe County, FL from Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas abt. 1873 or can refer me to them. I am looking for descendants of Edward Russell, b. Jun 5, 1828 in Hope Town, Abaco, Bahamas. Son of Edward Pinder Russell, b. 1804 Spanish Wells, Bahamas & Anne Malone, b. 1807 Great Harbour, Bahamas.
Edward married my GG Grandmother Charlotte (Bethel) Johnson, b. Nov 1830 in Hope Town, Abaco. Edward and Charlotte were married abt 1854 in Hope Town and 1900 Monroe Co., Key West, FL Census records show they moved to Key West in 1873. 5 kids: Edward 1855, daughter 1858, Benjamin 1860, Regina 1861 and son 1865. Looks like she died between 1910 and 1920 Monroe Co., FL. The 1900 FL Census also shows she had a total of 12 children with 9 living: 3 with Thomas Johnson from her first marriage in 1847 and 9 with Edward Russell, looks like he died between 1900 and 1910.
Charlotte Bethel's 1st marriage was to my GG Grandfather Thomas Johnson, b. May 18, 1824, m. abt 1847 and they had 3 children: Belice b. Aug 8, 1848, William Eldridge Johnson, Sep 20, 1850 (my G Grandfather who went to Port Orange, FL 1867) and Emily Ellen, b. Mar 25, 1853, she married Philip James Gandolfo, Their children: William Augustus, b. 1873, Mary, 1876, Laurence S., 1877, Leonard, 1881 and Myrtle 1885. All 3 of Thomas and Charlottes kids born in Hope Town (Great Harbour and baptized in St. James Methodist Church). Charlotte is the daughter of Benjamin Bethel, Sr. and Sarah Adams. Looking for any info on Johnson and Russell cousins interested in our family history. I want nothing but to share a lot of info and photos and hopefully fill in a few blanks in our family history lines. I did not know about this 2nd marriage until April 09 so it is exciting and hopefully lead to sharing info on our families.
Port Orange is still the home to many of Thomas & Charlottes & Williams descendants. All I want is to exchange info and hopefully photos and family stories.
many thanks
Ted E. Johnson, Jr.
