  Lieutenant Francis W. Kieper USN, flew cover for 6.5 hours for the damaged HMS Ulster on April 5, 1945 in the VPB-111 Navy.

Ulster was damaged by near miss from 5001b bomb jettisoned by Zeke aircraft being pursued by Seafire aircraft. Major damage to Engine Room and After Boiler Room. Two personnel killed and one seriously injured. Ship disabled but armament still available.

Doug believed this was taken in the 1950's, however I think its a "2" on funnel and she has an extra whaler, which leads me to believe picture was taken in 1965 when Ulster was commissioned in 2nd Frigate Squadron for training purposes.

Motor cutter on its way to collect our Officers from a party on HMS Whirlwind at about 1am on 4th November 1947 during a snowstorm off Invergordon.

The "Medway Queen" on its regular Sunday trip down the River Medway, passing HMS Ready and part of Reserve Fleet minesweepers off Chatham dockyard. Bob's final days in RN were aboard HMS Ready - an Algerine Class minesweeper.
