Once Navy - Always Navy

The Navigator

The message below was awaiting me on my return from sunny Spain.  It is a message from Gerard [Doc] Livingston and published for the benefit of those not on email and not on Doc's distribution list.

Message:

Dear Norrie & fellow crew member’s 58-60 commission of the famous F83.

Today Sunday 22nd November 2009, I had the pleasure & privilege of speaking by telephone to Muriel Gallagher, who then got Brian (whom is now at home) to come to the phone, it took him approx 1 minute to walk 5 yards to the chair by the phone, but he did this unaided. He was remarkably coherent, with a strong voice & greeted me with a big hello.

He remembered well our last meeting last year at the rest home in Sussex-Bay. N.S.W. were he was convalescing & recovering from a severe stroke, this was just a few months  before my wife & I came to UK for the 2008 Re-union.

Brian did ask how the reunion went, which I explained, & said most of his R.P.s attended. He asked me the name of his yeoman, which I answered Allen (Smudge) Smith. He then asked me to pass on his very best regards to you all, with a special mention to Sir Cameron & Lady Marion.

Muriel & Brian intend (If all goes well ) to return to the UK for good in the spring of 2010, to reside somewhere near were they used to live in Fleet, Hampshire. However Brian said he would not know at this time if they would be able to attend the 2010 Reunion. but time will tell.

Also if someone  lives near them, perhaps they could arrange to pick them up. Just a thought, but as I reiterate, time will tell!

I know you will publish this in our Ulster web Norrie, so that crew members not on "E" mail will read this regarding the PILOT.

Brian retired from the Royal Navy as a Commander.

God bless you all.

Merry Christmas & a Happy, Healthy, Safe & Prosperous New Year.

Yours AYE! Gerard (Doc) Livingston.
