On behalf of a friend I am also trying to research Jacob Robinson Derrick who married Mary Sinclair.

I believe they had a son James Frederick Derrick born 1854 who emigtrated to New Zealand 1882 and married Charlotte Annie Surman in 1883.

If you have any information on this family it would be gratefully appreciated if you could let me know.

Robin has been warned about including email addresses in public Posts. This is against the Terms Of Use of the Index.

BimJim

Thank you for the warning I hadn't realised this was the case although I suppose common sense should have told me.

Unfortuantely I have already emailed Lillian Lee. Luckily I did include an apology for contacting her. The only thing I can say is that she has the option not to reply although I do realise this is not the point.

Thank you again.

I don't make these things up to be a pain the whatsit. I have been to the point where I was receiving in excess of 6,000 SPAM a day (and increasing), and it was taking over three hours - every day - to separate the few emails that were for me from the crap. I eventually advised all my contacts and changed addresses.

In a previous incarnation of the Index where emails were openly exposed, one woman reported that she had been stalked because someone knew where she was - she thought because of the email address.

If someone is required to register in order to make contact (whether by public pr private message), at least emails are not exposed involuntarily and there is some control over their presence on the Index. Without mandatory registration and control over emails I am sure the Index would revert to the usual porn- and SPAM-filled garbage gutter which none of us would want to use.

I think my Terms Of Use keep the Index clean and safe, and I don't plan to change the rules any time soon.

Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but I do work hard - every day - to keep this a working resource that people would want to use. And I think it is useful that I occasionally explain the why's and wherefore's.

Can I just point out that I was not the one that put the email address on the forum.

Not blaming you, Pam... I sent Robin a warning. But as I said occasionally it's necessary - and useful - to explain why I do things the way I do.
