BECKER - St. Martin

Postby Birdlaw » Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:19 am

Looking for info on Beckers in French St. Martin:

My gr gr grandmother was Maria Louisa Becker b.Aug. 2, 1841 on Fr SXM

Her father was Charles Ferdinand Becker b. 1814 on fr SXM, m. to Marguerite Adams b. Orleans, Fr SXM

Maria's sibs were: Auguste Emmanuel b. Fr SXM 1841
Catherine Dorothee b. " 1834
Emelie Frederique b. " ?, m. William Lawrence
Julia Sophia b. " 1843
Uxbridge b. " 1860 d. 1874
Charles Emile b. " 1847

Charles Ferdinand Becker had a brother named Jean Frederick Becker b. 1814

These r the only ones I know.

1. Family story says they were German. Maybe they were Dutch? Maybe there is more evidence of them on the Dutch side? They were white. I couldn't find a trail of them coming to USA from SXM thru Ellis Island. I once came across the name Becker on St. Eustatius while web surfing....isn't that a Dutch island ....maybe they came from there...I just wonder where they came from &where they went. I don't read Dutch so I have not done any Mormon research on the Dutch side or for Statia, as I did for the French (which I am able to read) .

Hope someone has something new. Thanks for this website BimJim
