D'ENCAUSSE DE LABATUT - Martinique, St. Lucia

Postby CEBFW » Mon Apr 04, 2011 7:32 pm

Jean-Francois Dominique d'Encausse de Labatut was a Lieutenant Colonel of the French Infantry and a Chevalier of the Order of St. Louis. He was stationed in Martinique in the 19th century. He had daughters but no sons. His daughters Aurore and Flore married Charles Gaillard de Laubenque and Louis Gaillard de Laubenque respectively, Jean Francois died in Soufriere, St. Lucia on 26 April, 1837. The family castle is still inhabited by family members in St. André, Haute Garonne, France. For more on this family see my book: Gaillard de Laubenque family of France and St. Lucia

Kia ora CEBFW

I suspect that my great great grandfather Francois BAQUIE who was also n the French Infantry and a Chevalier of the Order of St Louis was in Martinique in 1786-89. Perhaps you have information on the composition of these military forces in Martinique at this time in your family book?

Best regards

Barry Baquie
