MANZANILLA - Trinidad, Arima & Mayaro

Postby patval » Sun Mar 04, 2012 5:19 pm

Hi,

While researching my husbands family several letters came to light.. one in particular dated July 1836 tells of the death of Alex, he was a doctor and was returning from Mayaro to either Manzanilla or Arima when he and his horse drowned.... Alex's wife writes to his parents explaing how he met his end... she says that as Alex hadn't returned that evening as promised, before going down to dinner she used her spy glass to search the beach but saw no-one... she says that next day the horse was found drowned in the river close to where they lived... and two days later Alex was discovered...

I am trying to find out which river this may have been, any assistance would be appreciated...

Many thanks in anticipation
Patricia
