Rum Factories in the 1850's

Postby stampman » Sat May 28, 2011 1:43 am

I have information that one of my relatives owned a rum factory. Do any lists exist of factories or distilleries and their owners in Barbados? His last name was Roach.

He may have come to Barbados from England in the early 1800's, and my great grandfather was sent over to work for him. Some discourse between the two caused the grandfather to leave and he ended up in Newfoundland.

Another question would be were logs of arrivals in Barbados kept in the mid 1800"s. Due to Jim Lynch I have connected with my cousin Angel in Canada, and we have pretty well documented most of the family since 1900. We will now try to go back the next 100 years.

Much thanks to Jim and those that helped me get this far.
