I am seeking further information about Robert Hobson, reported at the time of his death (18 November 1842) to be 31 years of age, and a native of Barbadoes. He was serving as a steward on a ship called "Challenger" when he died. The ship was berthed at Launceston Tasmania Australia, and Hobson fell into the water and drowned while attempting to board the ship. He was reported to have left a wife and 2 children in Adelaide South Australia. He had married Elizabeth Taylor in Adelaide on 7 August 1841, and they had a son named Robert John Hobson born 3 February 1842, baptised 3 April 1842. Elizabeth Taylor was described as a widow in the record of her marriage to Hobson, and it is believed that the 2nd child mentioned in the records of Hobson's death may have been Elizabeth Taylor's child by a previous relationship.
