There were Hassells and Johnstons that sailed from Saba to Bermuda in the late 19th Century and early 20th Century.

Yes, there have been several Hassell families that went from Saba and Barbados to Bermuda. I have recently been in contact with one that the grandparents left Saba in the late 1800's. Always interested in making contact and expanding the Saba family tree..

All information is appreciated.

Glen Hassell, son of Alan alive and well on the Australian Gold Coast. The family name as far as I am aware originated from Belgium and is derived from the word Hasaluth, meaning Hazel wood. There also is a town named Hasselt which is from the same origin.

Orion my son was brought to me from the heavens and to date it is within his virtue to continue this branch of our lineage. I've wanted to see Saba since my father spoke to me of it as a young boy and hope to make your acquaintance some day Henry.

Henry, I am also looking for possible family members from Saba. My great grandfather, Eugenius Hassell, left there in the late 1800's to work on a ship. He met my great grandmother in Long Island New York and never went back. Always wondered if I still had any relatives there. Were you ever able to find any more information?

I want to find out if anyone knows whether the John Hassell that was appointed to leadership position in Statia/Saba in 1672 was the same John Hassell that arrived in Barbados in 1658. He may have had a son named John also.
