LE JUEZ / LEJUEZ - Guadeloupe, Antigua

Hello,

I'm a descendant of the Le Juez / Lejuez family.

The Le Juez family came from Normandie France to the Caribbean. The branch I descended from, Guilleaume le Juez, came to Guadeloupe around 1795 and went on board the Vaillante, which sailed (with the D├ęcius) from Guadeloupe to Antigua. On it's way it encountered the British ship HMS Lapwing which defeated the French. Guilleaume le Juez survived the fight and didn't get captured, as far as I know, and stayed on Antigua where the his surname changed to Lejuez.

I'm looking for some information on people who came from France (escaped the French revolution?) and embarked on ships (as a soldier?). Also I'm looking for some historical details and facts. Hopefully someone can get me started with a good site to begin with.

Greetings,

User - Horus

Hi Horus,

I am also a descendant of Guillaume Lejuez.
But there were several Guillaume Lejuez people. Here we go:

There was a G.L 1744 - 1803
His father was Pierre Lejuez 1711 - 1762 approx.
His father was also Pierre Lejuez 1681 - 1738
His father was Guillaume Lejuez 1642 - 1711
His father was Pierre Lejuez born 1621
His father was Michel Lejuez 1596 - 1660

I have put it all at www.geni.com
Where do the Lejuez people came from? OK, from Normandy - France.
But before that they came from the very north of Spain. Their name was El Juez. Later it became Lejuez. I hope this is of interest to you. Regards from the Netherlands
