Thomas Gaskin born 26/10/1835 Barbados, West Indies. Father is Arthur Gaskin - occupation: Manager of Sugar Plantation.

Thomas was a Coastguard in Ireland in the 1870s and married there to his second wife.

Any information on this Gaskin family would be most welcome.

Further information on Thomas Gaskin:

He was married to Margaret Connolly, the daughter of Coastguard Thomas Connelly/Connolly of Fairhill/Claddagh, Galway, Ireland.

I have Marriage Certificate & Coastguard record for her husband Thomas Gaskin, details of his children and the Will of his wife's Father, but no experience of West Indies Research. Would someone please point me in the right direction to find out more about this Gaskin Family? Where did they come from....who was his first wife….did they have children and if so, what happened to them…. And what happened to the children he had with Margaret....????

Births/Baptisms of Children:
Some are baptised as Catholics, others as Church of Ireland which suggests to me that Thomas may have been Church of England/Ireland. Margaret was a Catholic. They had been married in a Church of Ireland Church.

Mary Gaskin Bpt 14/09/1872 Roundstone RC Church, Galway, Ireland.
Joseph Gaskin/Gaschen b 1874 Roundstone, Galway, Ireland.
Rosalina Catherine Margaret Gaskin bpt 25/11/1876 Galway, Ireland.
William Gaskin bpt 1880 in St. Nicholas Church of Ireland Parish Church, Galway, Ireland.
2 other children - details unknown - may have died in infancy.

4.
Will of Thos. Connolly of Fairhill, Galway dated 25/06/1896.He names his daughter Margaret Gaskin and her son William, as beneficiaries.

5.
I understand he died by 1911 as his wife is listed as a widow in Galway, Ireland on the 1911 Census.
