Looking for info on Samuel Robert Groom born about 1804 in Spanish Town, Jamaica. I believe he was married to Adelaide, who was also born in Spanish Town. They had a son named Henry born in about 1833 in Jamaica, and daughters Adelaide born in about 1824 in Spanish Town, and Catherine born in 1839 in Kingston, Jamaica. Any information on this family's ancestors or descendents would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hello Shining Lt. - There is a Saml Robt Paine who married Adelaide Pacifico on Nov.9, 1823, Spanish Town. You will find them on Familysearch.org. There is another SRP born 1825, also St.Cath. who also mar Adelaide - haven't found registration. My Grooms in Jca came originally from Somerset & you will find them on Anc. as some of them seem to have returned to England. I haven't connected them to my family, but think they are probably related a few gen. back. Happy hunting. Ann H

Hi Ann

Thanks so much for responding to my post. I have checked Family Search as you suggested and have found baptisms for the children of Samuel and Adelaide Pacifico, most in 1830, but I can find no marriages. Can you tell me how you found that marriage and the other SRP who married and Adelaide as I can't seem to find it?

I presume you mean Paine is a third Christian name for Samuel Robert and not a surname. I have found the Grooms who were back in Somerset temporarily i.e. schooling and short stays and these are definitely my relatives but have not been able to connect them to any settled Groom families in Somerset.

It has been slow progress finding much about the Jamaican Grooms so appreciate your contact and any other help you can give.

Regards
Shining Light

Hello Shining Light - My apologies - I was thinking Groom & writing Paine as in my family they married, & both are difficult to trace. My family is Alfred Groom, b 1821 Frome, Somerset. His parents, Thomas & mary Ann Hall married in Kingston in 1816. I suspect that Thos (a merchant) is related to your Samuel who lived in St. Cath, Jca , but so far can't make the connection, nor find my Thos's b/bap in Jca or England. In LDS film#1291711, St. Cath. Jca you can find 4 or 5 children bap. between 1830 & 1836. - Charlotte, Emily, Samuel Robert, Christiana, all bap 1830, another Charlotte 1832, Henry 1836 - in 1291712 is William Charles, bap 1836, all children of the 1st Samuel Robert GROOM. in the England 1841 Census are Adelaide & Charlotte at school in Somerset. In the 1861 is Charlotte as Head & Samuel R. jr.son 2yrs old. In 1861 Census Bristol (very close to Frome) is William Charles b. Jca, widower. He is also in 1881 cen. St. Marylebone, London & 1891 Islington, London. Hope you are able to find the above, as I am going in circles trying to tie them to my family. Regards, Ann

Hello Helen

I'm glad to hear from you, as my last post doesn't show up on the message board. Probably I did something wrong. Hope this is on private mode.

Ann...

PLEASE do not Post your email in a public Post again - believe me, I know personally that it is to your detriment - you may start receiving SPAM, and that daily garbage delivery number always increases, until you have to dump that email address and get another.

Since you provided it, I have deleted your email address from here and passed it to ShiningLight, and hopefully they will communicate with you direct.
