SICARD / LICARD / TICARD

This surname occurs in the lists of persons escaping from Haiti to Kingston, Jamaica during 1794. Shown as a family of 4 persons including Bernard Sicard. Who were they all - the alternative initial letters L & T are probably errors of transcription. Were they emigrees from France, part of the French Colonial officialdom perhaps, or plantation owners/overseers? What, if any, is the connection to the family "de Valois", a name passed down thru the male descendants born in Jamaica.

Whatever their origins, my GGrandmother is probably a descendant born in Jamaica 1842, Eliza Marguerite Sicard daughter of Alexander Sicard.
