Search in Anguilla

Postby david » Thu Jun 14, 2012 10:25 am

Hi,

I live in Guadeloupe, and here we have Departemental Archives, so we can consult the old registry records.

I would like to know how to do the same in Anguilla if I want to search for birth records and certificates. Who are the people can help me there?

Thanks, David

The Court House, The Valley, Anguilla.
They have the Civil Records from c.1883 to the present day.
The Anglican Church records are best read from the Latter Day Saints films, they start c.1825.
Methodist Church records available only from c1910 as they were lost in a fire. These should be available from the Bethel Methodist Church, Anguilla.
If you need some of the Civil Records up to c1920 and Anglican records I may be able to help.

I'm looking for information about Edwige dite Virginia HODGE. She was born in Anguilla in 1899. Her parents were William HODGE and Eglantine OQUEZALIE. She came in Guadeloupe (Marie-Galante) and married a French fishman in 1935.

I don't know why she left Anguilla, or who her family was.

Can you help me, can you find some information in the court house ?

Thanks, David

Is this the William Hodge and Eglantine you are looking for?
I have nothing further on the family except that Eglantine Richardson Hodge's father is Napoleon Hodge, of The Road, Anguilla. Labourer. Born before 1856 and died after 6 Feb 1888 when he registered the birth of a Samuel Benjamin Gumbs who was also of The Road.
Notes for Eglantine:
She might be the Rosalie Eglantine.
She used the name Eglantine Hodge most of the time but 23 May 1898 she called herself Eglantine Richardson, with the child's father, William Hodge.
In 1894 at birth of son, Samuel Edward, they were unmarried. William Hodge, black labourer, and Eglantine Hodge of Wall Blake Estate.

This might be the same Eglantine Hodge:
