Does anyone know anything about the Dublin Castle Plantation outside Kingston, Jamaica ? Near Gordon Town. I'm told that it was a coffee plantation which make sense cause its in or near the Blue Hill Mountains but that's all I've got. I'm trying to find a connection between this plantation and a Sara Watt or Emily Clarke or Alice Clarke or Edith Wyles b. in the 1870's. I don't have any exact dates but I'm guessing Alice and Emily Clarke would have been in and around Gordon town around the mid 1800's. Sara Watt was their mother and Edith Wyles was the daughter of Emily Clarke.

Thanks for any and all leads.

Hi, I'm assuming that you have seen the following from the Jamaica Handbook 1891on www.jamaicanfamilysearch.com (worth the small subscription fee)

1. COFFEE CULTIVATION IN JAMAICA
1889-1890

Dublin Castle, estate of Aitkin (John McLean)

2. It would seem there was also a Dublin Castle in the parish of St. Ann (I believe Gordon Town is St. Andrew)

In the 1841 Almanac

Pourtland, George, Dublin Castle, 30 acres/450 ft

Cathy

Thanks for the info. I did come across this listing today as a matter of fact. I guess my next step it to find out more about the estate and Aitkin.
