SCRIVENS - Barbados

Postby jambo » Sun Nov 05, 2006 10:14 pm

Margaret SCRIVENS (previous names WOODMAN and OWENS) died age 110 when a beam fell on her during a hurricane in 1895.

She married Samuel WOODMAN in 1803 and their children were, Sarah Frances, John Thomas, Anna, William, Robert, and Samuel had 2 sons by Elizabeth Barrow - Samuel and John Richard. Samuel died in 1844 and she married a man whose last name was OWENS.

With Mr OWENS she had a son named John who married Alice and they had a son James "Jimmie" OWENS and a daughter Alice OWENS. There is mention of John and Alice owning over 100 slaves and living in a mansion.

Does anyone know anything of this remarkable lady?
