SCARLETT, RAFFINGTON, ANGLIN, GALLIMORE, GAYNER - Jamaica

Postby Paraiso » Fri Sep 26, 2014 1:41 am

Looking for information on the early Scarlett and associated families, eg Raffington, Anglin, Gallimore, Gayner. My 3rd. great grandfather (John Gallimore Scarlett) had three boys - have found their births and/or baptisms but cannot find any other information in them. They are: James Marshall Scarlett (b. 1843), John William Scarlett (b. 1844), and Robert Richard James Scarlett (1853)

Hi - We have an Elizabeth Gallimore in our family. She married John Clarke in Hanover Parish on 1st April 1769 and died on 7th May 1803 and is buried in Hanover Parish Churchyard. John Clarke was a widower who was previously married to Petronella Virgo daughter of William Virgo of Water Valley in Trelawney. Hope this might help! Unfortunately I do not have any further information on the Gallimores.

Thanks for sending the info - I did have Elizabeth Gallimore/John Clarke, but no dates, so this is very helpful.

Not much hope in the IGI... no Elizabeth Gallimore found in the UK, either.

Broad search - unrefined
https://familysearch.org/search/record/ ... %3AJamaica

Marriage
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XLKK-M3J
Name: John Clarke
Spouse's Name: Eliz. Gallimore
Event Date: 01 Apr 1769
Event Place: Hanover, Jamaica
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I03814-0 , System Origin: Jamaica-EASy , GS Film number: 1224327 , Reference ID: p. 39

- Earliest Christening 1768 - too late.

- All Clarke Births (John & Elizabeth) are in 1800s - too late

Death
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XLPM-G4M
Name: Elizabeth Clarke
Gender: Female
Burial Date: 07 May 1803
Burial Place: Hanover, Jamaica
Marital Status: Married
Spouse's Name: John Clarke
Indexing Project (Batch) Number: I03814-0 , System Origin: Jamaica-EASy , GS Film number: 1224327 , Reference ID: #113

Possible christenings I saw started in 1780 - 11 years after the marriage - and either showed no parents or a name other than Clarke.

Thanks for looking up the above information. That is all I do have on Elizabeth Gallimore. John Clarke and Petronella Virgo had a son _ William Virgo Clarke b. April 1, 1769 (mentioned as a grandchild of Col. William Virgo in his will), This William Virgo Clarke married Ann Parr Bernard.
