BURTON - Jamaica, St. Ann

Postby Keith Burton » Sun Sep 28, 2014 3:48 am

I am looking for descendants of my great-great-granfather, Thomas Burton, from the Alexandria and Brown's Town districts in St. Ann Jamaica. Thomas lived from 1799 to 1913, and was featured in the August 14 1911 edition of the Jamaica Gleaner as the oldest living person on the island.

Some of his immediate offspring moved to Kingston and St. Mary, and possibly Manchester and St. Elizabeth. Known surnames of men who married into the family include Scott, Whilby, Johnson, Tracy, Wilson, Dawlton, Gayle, Bird and Sewell.

One of my ancestors is a Thomas Bird (b 1815 in Westmoreland). Do you have full names for the descendants with last names Bird?

Hi Floyd,

"Bird" is the surname of my first cousins. Their father, David Bird, was a cricketer. His father's name was Edward Bird, but I'm not sure what parish they are originally from.

Peace!

Keith.
