Hello -

I am researching the paternal side of my family who are from Barbados. Specifically for surname BANNISTER. My paternal grandmother was Winnifred "Agnes" Bannister born November 22, 1919 in Hillaby, St. Michael's Parish, Barbados. She died of unnatural causes (homicide) on February 12, 1985 in Barbados. She did own a shop on Swan Street for many years, (she and her children lived above the shop as was common practice back then) but I believe she sold it at some point likely long before her death.

Agnes' mother's name was Eunice Sandiford born in Barbados. I do not have any other information about her.

Agnes' father came to Barbados from Ireland. His name was Cyril Bannister. I don't have any other information about him.

I am new here, and admittedly my access to Caribbean resources is limited, but I am happy to help if ever I can and offer whatever information I can find.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. :D

Hello,

I'm Jamila Bannister from Trinidad. My grandfather was from Barbados and his name was Goldbourne ( not sure if spelt correctly) Bannister. He'd have left Barbados perhaps in the 1940's and migrated to Trinidad. I believe his parents may have been into agriculture i.e. farming including livestock in Barbados. I've been told that all Bannisters from Barbados were/are related. I'm hoping to make a connection here. Thanks.
