PAYNE - Barbados, Raeburn

Postby sweetpea2u » Thu Aug 02, 2007 1:07 pm

Looking for any information on family of Charles PAYNE...born Nov. 14, 1882 and died in 1958. Understand his ancestors, going back some generations, owned a plantation in Barbados. Heard they may have owned a fleet of ships at some point and migrated to Barbados from Scotland.

Also looking for information in his wife Millicent TAITT...born Sept. 14, 1898 and died in 1969. She had a sister named Nella who died in 1963. Millicent Taitt’s father was born in Barbados and was a Sergeant Major in the army, fought in the Boer war for the British and died of natural causes in the early 1930’s. His parent(s) were slaves. He married a CAVE.

Any information or places to check would be helpful.

Have not received any additional information. Have no information on slaves that may have been owned by the Payne family in Barbados.

Am still seeking information on the Payne family that lived in the Raeburn house in Christ Church, Barbados.
