Mills is another planter name from Ulster or the north of Ireland where it is quite numerous, but is found all over the UK and Ireland based on being 'of the mill'.

Good morning from Australia, Rod. My great great grandmother, Malvina Amanda Fitz Allan Tuckett is recorded as being Irish. She married William Burns Amory on St. Kitts and had children - Reginald McCourtney Amory, William Charles Mortimor Amory 1861, Annie Amory 1864, Ida Amory Helen Amory 1862. Do you have any information on Malvina Tuckett.

Cheers Pat Pack.

Humble apologies for slow response

Mills is an English name that came to the north of Ireland during the 17th century plantations. It is quite numerous these days in Ulster.

Do you know what trade your grandfather followed?

Cheers

Apologies for not replying sooner. Where is St Elizabeth please? Mills is not a very common name in Ireland. Without more info hard to say where he came from.

Hi Rod,
I am descended from Edward Thomas McHugh who was born in Castries City St Lucia in 1849.
His father, Robert Garraway McHugh was Treasurer of St Lucia and sometime Administrator.
For some reason, Edward came to Australia but we don't know why or much about him.
If anyone has any information about him, it would be much appreciated
Many thanks
Ian McHugh
