I am researching my great grandfather, Alexander Rankin McLarty, born 1829 in Kingston, Jamaica. His parents were Rankin & Sarah McLarty and lived in Rum Lane, but I don't know which Parish that's in.

I would like to know if the parents came to Jamaica from elsewhere, did they pass away and were they buried there.

Alexander came to Ballarat in the state of Victoria, Australia, married, and in 1898 passed away in Melbourne, Victoria.

I think Alexander may have had a brother Colin but information is not conclusive.

Hello,

I am a descendant of the McLarty family in Jamaica. Rum Lane is in the Kingston parish and I have had relatives who lived there. My McLarty's came from towns called Chestervale and Clydesdale and settled in Content Gap. All these towns are n Saint Andrew's parish.
