MCFARLANE - Jamaica

Postby Gwen » Sun Apr 06, 2008 9:34 pm

Gwen Clarke, I'm looking for children of William and Eleanor McFarlane born about 1869-1879...what became of them? William? Fredrick? John? Thomas? I know about Alice and Agnes.

My Great Grandmother was the eldest. They were from St Ann.

Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Gwen,

I have just found out that my grandmothers surname (maiden) was also Mcfarlene, she had a brother who we called uncle sonny but his name was Raphael. I just wondered if this meant anything to you, as i have only just found this info!!

My grandmothers name was Josephine and she lived in Spanish town

Hi Trisha,
William and John were family names of the McFarlane families, some were in St James, some in St Ann, St Catherine and St Thomas.
It is the "time line" that confuses us sometimes, my last William lived in the early 1900's, yours might be of the same family but you will need to do some (a lot, I've been working on it for several years). There are some very good sites to help with research.
jamaicanfamilysearch.com (it is free now with new info added often) also familysearch.org (massive amounts of info there too.).
Good luck with your search. I also did a DNA test and that really opened things up!
