Jeffry / Jeffry WILLIAMS - Convict from Antigua to Tasmania

Looking for information on Jeffry, no surname, but in later life used the surname Williams. He was listed as born in Antigua around 1812. On the 7th March 1835, at the age of 24, Jeffry was convicted of stealing a sheep with a co-felon Charles; and both were sentenced to transportation for life to Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania, Australia) with about 20 other convicts from Antigua and nearby islands.

They were transported from Antigua to Sheerness, Kent, England, where they were assigned to the Lady Nugent, bound for Van Diemen’s Land. The Lady Nugent arrived at Hobart Town on the 12th November 1836, where most of the convicts were transferred. Jeffry Williams eventually died in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in 1877.

Do any Court documents or newspaper articles about the trial from March 1835 still exist?

Are there any records or information on how they were transported to England?

Many Thanks
Brad
