Any information please relating to Mildred Marion Liddelow who I believe was born in Trinidad in 1896. Her parents were George Liddelow and Laura Augusta McClean. Mildred married George Collyer-Crabbe who was born in Chelmsford ,Essex, England 29 March 1904. They married in about 1929 and had a daughter Patrica M. Collyer-Crabbe in 1931 in Kent, England.

They were thought to have married in Trinidad but I have been unable to find any information about this. They separate in 1937 and Mildred and her daughter returned to the West Indies in 1938.

Their daughter Patrica later married a Wilfred Lee- Lum in Trinidad.

Hello many thanks for your reply. I think we are generally at about the same place with our research. I have however recently found some useful UK press cuttings relating to the marriage of George Collyer-Crabbe and Mildred Liddelow. These confirm that they were married at St. Margaret's Church, Belmont, Trinidad on 17 March 1929. George was born in England and is my grand-mother's brother so I am able to trace back his Crabb(e) family a few generations.

The press cuttings did give the names of the bridesmaids Misses Hilda Smith, Pat Liddelow, Barbara Newbold and Bety Stodart. The brides mother was Mrs Liddelow of Errol Park, St. Ann's where the reception was held. Sub Inspector Collens was the best man! ( any relation?)

I would still like to find out more about Mildred in her late life after she returned from England and to know where and when she died. I have made contact with the Lee-Lum family and they have very kindly let be have a copy of a wedding photo for Patricia and Wilfred Lee- Lum including Mildred.

Kind regards
Ray

Hi Ray,
Sorry, I don't have any more info. The bestman would have been my great grandfather James Henry Collens.

Hello again Chris

What a small world! Interesting to hear that Sub Inspector Collens was your great grandfather. I assume he was in the Police Force. Any ideas how he would have known George Collyer-Crabbe or Mildred Liddelow? I would imagine George would not have known many people in Trinidad.

Kind regards
Ray
