HIGGINS - St Lucia, Panama

I am looking for information/records for my grandfather (Thomas Alexander Higgins) ancestors. Thomas A Higgins was born in Casteries, St Lucia in 1897 (I have his baptism record) and he had a brother called Ephraim who was 2 years younger. I believe they also had a sister. Their parents names were Thomas Augustus and Emmaline Lucetta Higgins. My father told me that Lucetta was a Carob Indian.

Thomas Alexander Higgins (my grandfather) ended up living in the UK (he was a merchant seaman) and his brother Ephraim died at sea in 1942. On my grandfathers death all contact was lost with our 'St Lucian' family. The last information I have is that the family had moved to Pananma looking for work but I don't know the year in which they left St Lucia - it could have been before my grandfather joined the merchant navy in the early 1920's.

I have contacted the Records Offices in Castries and they have confirmed that Thomas Alexander and Ephraim Higgins were baptised in Casteries.

If anyone has any information on the Higgins family or can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

THANKS
Cher

My name is Ines Virginia Sealy. My mother was Geraldine Viola Lucetta Higgins, she married my father: Lloyd Leslie Sealy in Panama.

She came to Panama with her parents when she was 3 months old. Her father Thomas Augustus Higgins came to Panama to read blueprints at Balboa Heights during the construction of the Canal. Her mother Emmaline Lucetta Grant Higgins died after she had my aunt Edna Lucetta Higgins here in Panama when my mother was 3 years old.

Ephraim MacDonald, Maria Rosa, Thomas Alexander and Sylvia Agatha Theodora were my mother's siblings, all born in St. Lucia.

My Mother died in 1981. Auntie Doris (Edna Higgins) died in 1995. (more later)

Looking forward to hearing from you.
