Re: BURKE, ASHBY, VALVERDE - Barbados, Trinidad, Grenada

If my notes are correct, William Seon married Mary Louisa Keeling Valverde (1812). Their children were Henry Sharpe Seon (1837) and Louisa Keeling Seon (1884). I assume Isaac was in that line.

Re: BURKE, ASHBY, VALVERDE - Barbados, Trinidad, Grenada

Do you have dates for Isaac Valverde Seon? Have Valverde and Keeling ancestry. So have some family tree information.

Re: MAHON, GASKIN - Barbados, Canada

W.E. Mahon acquired Pegwell about 1898, probably from the estate of the previous owner. W.T. Mahon had the title about two years later and held same until about 1907, when passed to C.C. Mahon. It was sold off (?) in 1937. This means my ancestor John Ashby Bentham's occupational listing as "pla...

Re: MAHON, GASKIN - Barbados, Canada

Not directly on point, but .... My great-grand-father John Ashby Bentham was, at his death in November of 1889, described as a planter at Pegwell. Family lore has it that his wife was not able to get in the crop and so lost the plantation. Where was Pegwell?

Re: BURKE, ASHBY, VALVERDE - Barbados, Trinidad, St. Vincent

Forgot to mention, after the death of William Armstrong Ashby, Rebecca Keeling Valverde Ashby moved to Trinidad. If Julia Eliza Ashby went with her, it would tie into your possibility that Alice Keeling Burke was born there.

Re: BURKE, ASHBY, VALVERDE - Barbados, Trinidad, St. Vincent

William Armstrong Ashby and Rebecca Keeling Valverde had (at least?) two daughters. One, Anne Maria Ashby, married her cousin John Ashby Bentham. They were my great-great grandparents.

William and Rebecca were also the parents of Julia Eliza Ashby, born 1864. She might be the person you are seeking.

BEANE - Ship of Death - Barbados

In 1854 a ship landed in Barbados, the year a great cholera epidemic was sweeping the Caribbean, all on board died except for a five year old girl, Georgiana Elizabeth Beane, and her brother, name unknown. Assumedly the ship came from another island, possibly Nevis. Georgiana was my great grandmothe...

Re: KEELING - Barbados

Annie Beatrice Bentham is my first cousin twice removed. Her husband, Alexander, is my great-great-uncle. I have had no contact with any of my Ashby-Bentham relatives before starting family research last year. I should have noted in my previous post that I have not seen documentation that the Valverd...

Re: KEELING - Barbados

Joseph Keeling Valverde was a much married man: Maria Holder 1829 (Rebecca's mother), Jane Cutting 1838, Caroline Ashby 1842, Elizabeth Mary Ashby (some time after Caroline's death as she is mentioned as a Valverde in George Ashby's will of 30 August 1855), and Fanny Fraser 1870. I gather Joseph was...
