Re: GROVES, Jamaica

Hi Marguerite,

This may be one of the areas we overlap along with St Elizabeth possible connection. My Groves goes back to 1850's-1860's, and then it becomes gray.

Re: DAVIS, Jamaica

Yes, please send a picture. I'm also curious as one poster stated that I can concur, sometimes they were confused as Mideastern or Asian.

Thanks!

Re: DAVIS, Jamaica

I didn't see that your response was on the 2nd page of this thread. :)

You wrote Lucin, Jamaica. Did you mean Lucea? There isn't a town that I found or am aware of that is listed as Lucin. Thanks!

Re: DAVIS, Jamaica

Do you have a picture of George that you can send? When was he approximately born and where in Jamaica did they live?

Thanks!

Re: Williams, Jamaica

I have the Williams connected to Clarendon and St Elizabeth from the 1800s through the mid-1900s. One of the Williams(f) married a Robinson(m) in the early 1900s and the Robinson connection had Robinson and Groves from Morant Bay.

Re: WILLIAMS - Jamaica, Manchester, Coleyville

I missed the message from Melodye. Did the response include information on Daniel, Robert, etc from the 1860s?

Re: JOLLY, Jamaica - All

Thanks. This India connection also fits some oral history which mentions an India connection.

Re: DAVIS, Jamaica

Hi YD, This information is indeed helpful and a good start. Keep in coming... Well the Davis's in my family were light skinned and also short in stature. typically from the Hanover area. Some have confused them to be from India or the Mideast. Does this make sense for your line? Harold was my Grandf...

Re: DAVIS, Jamaica

Hi Y, I'll check on those names. I think John is the brother of (James) Arnold Davis, whose sons are Wilfred Arnold, Harold, Joelle, and 2 other siblings. It may be the case that John is the cousin of these brothers. The had a lot of property in Hanover and neighboring parishes that got past down fr...

Re: DAVIS, Jamaica

There are a lot of Davis in the Hanover parish. I am searching Davis back the 1800s. How far back can you go and when was Isadora or Henrietta born?

Thanks,
Chris
