Hi
I'm pretty sure she was born in the West Indies because her father was a soldier serving on the island of St Kitts (see my posts of 19 Apr and 12 Oct 2015 under this heading). Who her mother was remains a mystery!

Like you, I reckon the 71-year old Julia Senior who was buried in Kent in 1837 was Richard’s widow & that he met her in St Kitts. There’s no record of him marrying before he left for the W Indies & even if he did its highly unlikely the Army would have let him take a wife with him. I’m curre...

Hi Lynn Alice Senior is also my 4xgreat-grandmother (see my post of 19 April). I don't think "our" Seniors have any connection with the Sephardic Jewish family of that name. Alice's father Richard was in St Kitts as a soldier, came from Yorkshire and was baptised as a baby. All the best Eric

I have just come across this thread. Alice Senior, born around 1790 is my 4xgreat-grandmother. Findmypast has the record of a Private Richard Senior being discharged from the British Army (Captain Archibald’s Company of the 9th Regiment of Foot) on 17 January 1794. He is aged 29, has served 11 years...
