Wellygirl, thanks for your input. My mother Beryl Joyce Wiles is one of 12 siblings. (She had other siblings by the name of Curling). Doris Wiles was her mother and her father was John Gilbert Wiles. They were all born in Jamaica and most of them migrated to the UK and USA in the early 60's and late...

Re: WILES - Jamaica

Many thanks for this. I was wondering as well, about the possible connection with this Abel prize winner, Sir Andrew Wiles. It would be good to know. Something tells me that all Wiles are related. My grandfather was Johnny Wiles, a tailor who worked on Harbour St. in the 50's and early 60''s ( ?) an...

Re: WILES - Jamaica

Many thanks for this. All the Wiles are related, I believe, and Joseph Wiles was a name that came up when I was searching for Johnny Wiles, my grandfather.

Re: MCCALLA - Jamaica, Bellas Gates

I am just starting my search on my maiden name, McCalla. My grandfather's name was Felix John Samuel McCalla, he lived in Grierfield, Moneague, St Ann, Jamaica, but I often heard the name Bellas Gate mentioned so I suspect he had some connections there. He was married to an Ida (?) Brown and died in...
